Bridge adjusted his jeans then whisked her up into his strong arms to carry her into the kitchen and deposit her on the bar stool. He must have seen her shiver because he reached down with one hand and hauled his T-shirt over his head. “Here. This will keep you warm.” He dragged the shirt over her shoulders and tugged the hem to her hips.

The fabric was soft, warm and smelled of sandalwood and fabric softener, draping her petite frame. She melted into the cotton cloud like it was the next best thing to one of his hugs. “I totally intended for us to have dinner first, but please forgive me of my weakness.”

He turned and, with a pot holder, grabbed something from the oven. A savory delicious smell reached her nostrils. She craned her neck to look into the pan as he placed it on the granite counter. “I remember how you liked my lasagna.”

Her stomach growled and she didn’t realize how hungry she was. “Your lasagna is delicious without doubt, but I truly enjoy watching you work in the kitchen. In fact, I can’t think of anything sexier than a man in the kitchen. You’re a much better chef than I am.”

“Do you advise your male patients to cook dinner for their wives?” He cocked a brow.

“Actually, I do. And I suggest food porn.”

“Food porn? If the definition is anywhere close to the vision I’m conjuring, I think I’ll want to try food porn too.”

She winked. “If you’re lucky, maybe I’ll show you.”

“I’ll hold you to that promise.” He adjusted his fly. “In the meantime, I’ve got to control myself.”

“At least until after we eat. I’m starving.”

He brought down two plates and set them on the counter, placing a square of lasagna onto each. She didn’t wait before she forked a big bite, blew on it, then popped it into her mouth. “Oh wow. This is yummy. I didn’t realize how much I missed things like this.”

He spooned out salad on another plate and placed the dressing in front of her. She poured a good amount over the lettuce and veggies and dug in. When it came to eating, she never felt demure or embarrassed to feed her face. He knew she could eat and why she worked extra hard in the gym.

Sipping water, she swallowed. “I am scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow. Would you like to come with?”

“Of course, I want to.”

“I wasn’t sure. I know you’re busy—”

“Ah-ah. You’re not allowed to do that.” He waved a long, wide finger.

“Do what?”

“Assume you know how I’m feeling or what I wish to do.”

“That’s fair.” She stabbed a piece of lettuce and shoved it into her mouth.
